Your campsite in the rocky inlets of Martigues
An emblematic landscape, both terrestrial and marine of Mediterranean Provence, the coves are known and envied for the beauty of its landscapes and biodiversity. Just a stone's throw from the Calanques National Park (the only one that is both continental, insular and marine), come and enjoy the campsite and a break, to revitalize yourself in a natural setting in the middle of the cicadas. Created in 2012, the Calanques National Park is the latest of France's ten national parks. In the heart of the metropolis Aix-Marseille Provence, it stretches over a land and sea territory. The richness and diversity of its fauna and flora are exceptional.
Take advantage of the coves for "100% nature" activities
A seaside and tourist resort, Martigues is best known for the sea and the sun. But also for its unique and idyllic location, between hill and sea. The small coves of the Côte Bleue, between L'Estaque and Carro, are limestone coves that hide small ports and beaches, sometimes difficult to access.
Hiking in the middle of the Martigues coves
The Cap Couronne hike: on the hills, the sea and the beautiful beaches of the Côte Bleue, will take you along the coastal path, integrated with the GR51. Discover natural spaces of exceptional ecological diversity and landscape quality.
The port of Carro: a real sea market, which offers the coastal fish of the sea every day. This small port has kept its authenticity and picturesque side while developing nautical activities.
The chapel of Sainte-Croix: it overlooks the beach in the middle of the rocky inlets, offering a stunning view of the sea and the horizon. Just in front of the campsite, you can see the ruins of the old 12th century chapel. According to tradition, it was here that Mary Magdalene and the Christians expelled from Palestine accosted. They then asked a deaf-mute resident for a source of drinking water. He told them a source and was then cured of his double disability. Travellers returned to sea before docking at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
