Fancy a walk?
The parc de la Poudrerie in Saint-Chamas offers a real treasure trove of historical and natural heritage! Nestled in the heart of the Bouches-du-Rhône region, this 17th-century industrial site was once dedicated to the manufacture of gunpowder and explosives, marking an exciting era in French industrial history. Closed in 1974, this site has had a new destiny thanks to the life-saving intervention of the Conservatoire du littoral in 2001. Aware of the ecological value of the site, the Conservatory acquired a large part of the Poudrerie to preserve it and make it a protected natural park. Since then, the local flora and fauna have been able to thrive in peace, offering visitors a serene getaway in the heart of nature.
Nestled on the heights, Miramas-le-Vieux reveals its timeless charm, and offers us a journey back in time in the heart of its picturesque streets full of history. The old stones bear witness to bygone eras, while the authentic atmosphere invites you to stroll and get lost in its twists and turns. You will find some famous restaurants and people come from far and wide to taste the ice creams of Le Quillé.
And how about a sweet break?
Le Quillé is one of the best ice-cream makers in the region, perched at the top of the village of Miramas-le-Vieux, on a terrace surrounded by centuries-old ruins. From there, enjoy an exceptional panorama of a wild coast bordered by the Parc de la Poudrerie. The ice-cream maker combines tradition and modernity by settling in the ruins of the keep, offering a breathtaking panoramic terrace. To reach this enchanting place, take the Staircase of Sighs on foot, adding a touch of mystery to the experience. Once you arrive, enjoy a delicious selection of artisanal ice creams in a variety of flavours, inspired by Provençal heritage and elsewhere, for a unique gourmet experience.
Are you more of a shopaholic?
